Allen Temple AME Church, 2101

Lowe St, Tampa, FL 33605, Rev. Dr.

Glenn B. Dames, Jr., Pastor.

Mrs. Lavern Nadine Lewis was

born on February 1, 1953, in Havana,

Florida, to the late Jeff Johnson and

the late Edna Johnson. She peacefully

departed this life on November 11,

2025, leaving behind a legacy of love,

faith, and service that will continue to

inspire all who knew her.

Lavern was a proud graduate of

King High School. She went on to

pursue a rewarding career as a phle-

botomist, dedicating her professional

life to caring for others with precision,

compassion, and dignity.

A devoted member of Allen Temple

AME Church, Lavern served faithfully

on the Usher Board, where her spirit

of service became a family tradition

carried on by her children and grand-

children. Her commitment to her

church community was matched only

by her love for youth and mentorship -

she was a beloved coach with the

Intercity Youth Baseball League, West

Tampa Spartans, Yellow Jackets Little

League, and King High School

(cheerleading), where she guided and

inspired countless young lives.

Lavern blessed her loving family

with her selflessness, caring spirit, and

authenticity. She is survived by the

love of her life, her husband of 54

years, Johnnie Lewis, Jr.; her pride -

children: Echeva Halyard, Marci Lew-

is, Misty Greenland (Dwayne), Johnnie

Lewis III (Alana), and Decondra Wil-

liams (Derek); her joy - grandchildren:

Zoe Williams, Jayce Williams, Jordan

Williams, Jadarius Farrington, Jenair-

ia Lewis, Ja’Air Lewis, and Johnnie

Lewis, IV; and her adored - great-

grandchildren: Jazlyn Lewis, Jariyah

Lewis, Jaleel Lewis, Jeremiah Lewis,

J’Lani Lewis, and Johnnie Lewis, V.

She also cherished her sister, Willie

Mae Foxworth (late Abraham Fox-

worth); niece: Angela Limehouse

(Terry); nephews: Corey Foxworth

and Dewayne Foxworth (late), and

their children.

Lavern’s heart extended to her

father and mother-in-law, the late

Johnnie Lewis, Sr., and the late Louise

Lewis. Brothers and sisters-in-law:

Gregory Lewis (Jolinda), Raymod

Lewis (Winette), Vernon Lewis, Alex

Lewis, Sr. (Willette), Patricia Hordge

(Elder Larry), Joyce Lewis, Zulema

Lewis-Godfrey, late Andrea Brown,

late Yolanda Baham, late Melody

Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews,

cousins, and a large circle of extended

family members and friends who treas-

ured her deeply. Each of them carries

a part of her warmth, strength, and

kindness.

Lavern Nadine Lewis will be

remembered for her unwavering

faith, her generous heart, and her

lifelong dedication to uplifting

others. Her legacy continues

through the countless lives she

touched - as a mother, grandmoth-

er, wife, sister, aunt, coach, church

servant, and friend. Her memory

will forever remain a blessing.
