Mr. Ray Travis Grimsley was born to the union of Mr. Willie C. Grimsley and Mrs. Marie Jones Grimsley on June, 14, 1955, in Haleberg, Alabama.Ray departed this life on May 2, 2026, at home in Tampa, FL.He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Oakey Grove Community Church in Haleburg, Alabama, and recently united with Rivers of Life Church Ministry in Brandon, FL.Ray married Ms. Geneva Gooden and was blessed with children.Ray attended Dothan High School, where he was known for his trendy clothes, quick wit, and spreading laughter.Ray was a serial entrepreneur and musician whose vision and persistence carried him through a lifetime of building relationships with people of all economic classes and ethnicities. He founded, grew, and stewarded a number of businesses, including contracting, promotions, and consumer products. Whether starting a seasonal venture, selling a landscaping business, or helping others grow theirs, he approached his work with focus and a dedication to know all he could about anything he put his hands on. He mentored countless others, helping them know how to provide for themselves and their family.He was also, and most beloved as, a fixture of the Tampa Bay music scene. As a player of various instruments, an event producer, a stage director, or a production manager, he gave his all to support musicians and artists across genres.He loved God, his family, friends, music, plants, continuous learning, and sharing jokes with anyone who would listen.Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Willie C. Grimsley and Mrs. Marie Jones Grimsley; his brothers, MacArthur Henry Howard, Willie Arthur Grimsley, Bishop Eddie B. Grimsley, and SFC Clinton Grimsley; and his sisters, Orminor Stanley and Bobbie Craddock. He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Mrs. Geneva Gooden Grimsley of Tampa, FL; three children: Janasky Fleming (Tamika Fleming) of Dothan, AL; Ebony Vaz (Ronald Vaz) of Lutz, FL; and Ramon Grimsley (Teri Grimsley) of Lakeland, FL; sister-in-law Brenda Grimsley, Ft. Myers, FL; eight grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, fellow musicians, and friends that are family.“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1
